Aggregate concrete plates, wood, aluminum (dimensions variable)
A line of aggregate concrete plates runs towards the corner of the space in which a birdhouse is mounted 30 cm above the ground. The plates were collected from the deteriorating staircase leading to the Monumento A La Madre [Monument for the Mother] in Mexico City that bears an inscription that lends the piece its title ([The one who loves us before we know each other].
The birdhouse, found in one of the hardware stores close to La Merced, has no opening. It is designed for a certain kind of parrot (Psittaculidae Loriinae) that prefers pecking out the hole for itself before breeding.
